UPSCWay — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 June 2026
UPSCWay ("the app", "we", "us") helps aspirants prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your choices. By using the app you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — when you sign up or sign in (email/password, email OTP, or Google Sign-In), we collect your email address and display name. Authentication is handled by Supabase.
- Your content & progress — notes you save, your syllabus-tracker status, quiz/PYQ attempts and scores, and answer sheets (PDFs) you upload for Mains evaluation.
- Map interactions — when you tap the World Map, the app sends the map coordinates you tapped to identify the place. This is not your device's GPS location; we do not track your physical location.
- Basic technical data — standard request/diagnostic information needed to operate and secure the service.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and keep you signed in.
- To save and sync your notes, progress, and performance analytics across sessions.
- To evaluate uploaded Mains answers and generate a score with feedback.
- To provide world-map place information.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal data or use it for third-party advertising.
3. Third-party services
We rely on the following providers to deliver core features. Your data is processed by them only as needed to provide the service:
- Supabase — authentication and database (account, notes, progress).
- Google — Google Sign-In and Google Maps (map display).
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim/Overpass) — converting map coordinates to place names. Only coordinates are sent.
- Mistral AI — analysing uploaded Mains answers to produce feedback. Answer content is processed for evaluation and is not used to identify you.
- Expo / EAS — app delivery and updates.
4. Uploaded answer sheets (Mains)
PDFs you upload for grading are processed to extract the question and your answer, generate feedback, and return a score. They are processed to deliver that result and are not published or shared with other users.
5. Data retention & deletion
We keep your account data and content while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing us (see Contact). On a verified request we will delete your personal data, except where retention is required by law.
6. Security
Access to your data requires authentication, and data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
7. Children's privacy
UPSCWay is intended for adults preparing for competitive examinations and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
